Privacy policy

How SetScreens handles account, licence, support and production information, including video exports and clearance reports, and the choices and rights you have.

Effective 3 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-03.1SetScreens

1. Who is responsible

SetScreens is operated by Gergely István EV, the provider identified on this page. We act as data controller for the account, licensing, support and other service processing we determine and describe here. This notice covers the SetScreens app, website, account, licences and support. For privacy questions or requests, contact legal@setscreens.com or use the postal address shown on this page.

SetScreens is a production tool for creating and controlling fictional on-screen content. Names, numbers, pictures and messages you create or import can still identify real people. Use fictional information where practical and obtain the permissions needed for your production.

A production chooses the personal information it puts into its scenes, who it concerns, why it is used and who receives the resulting files. Where the production determines that processing, it is responsible for the applicable lawful basis, information for affected people and other data-protection duties. Those duties are separate from our responsibility for processing we determine or perform. Local storage and fictional presentation do not by themselves remove data-protection obligations.

2. Account and sign-in information

We process your email address, password hash, verification status, account creation time and whether you registered through the website or an app. Passwords are checked using a protected hash, rather than kept as readable passwords. We keep session and recovery references, expiry and use times, and recent account activity needed to sign you in, protect your account and help you regain access.

The same SetScreens account connects your access across the app and website. Registering an account does not subscribe you to optional news emails. Information required for an account or requested feature is needed to provide it; optional news subscriptions and optional diagnostic details are not a condition of unrelated features.

3. Licences, devices and purchases

We process licence and key references, purchase source, subscription and transaction references, entitlement status, assigned capacity and renewal or expiry information. To assign keys to Controllers and manage transfers, we process a Controller public-key identifier, its device name and assignment, connection and licence history. The device provides proof that it holds its key; its private key is not sent to the account service.

Payments are handled by the provider shown at checkout. Paddle supplies information about website purchases, including customer and subscription references, billing information and payment-status notifications. Apple supplies App Store transaction and subscription information, linked to your SetScreens account using an app-account reference. We use these records to verify purchases, manage access and deal with refunds, disputes and purchase recovery.

You enter payment details with the payment provider. Apple and Paddle have their own responsibilities and privacy notices for their checkout, billing and store services. An Apple purchase reference is not a Sign in with Apple account.

4. Production content, clearance reports and device access

Scripts, Takes, authored phone data, imported media, rendered videos and clearance files are normally handled on the devices you use. The Controller shares the content needed by connected Players over your local network. The account service does not automatically upload or back up your whole production.

Each successfully completed new video export made with a version that supports clearance reporting also creates a PDF report and JSON evidence file from an export-time snapshot. Depending on the available project data, these can contain production and scene names, operator details, supplied phone-model information, script excerpts and notes, contact names and numbers, message text and drafts, images and captions, source references and filenames, UI identifiers, the action sequence, screenshots, timings, a Clip ID and QR code, and file hashes. The JSON can retain full source text and captured image data.

The inventory can include prepared or referenced information that never appears in the finished video, including complete typing goals or message text that is not sent in the scene. Screenshots are sampled rendered states of the simulated interface, not a camera record of a physical phone. Review the contents of the PDF and JSON as well as the video before sharing; a short visible scene does not necessarily mean a short or anonymous evidence file.

The export feature generates and stores these files locally. It does not automatically upload them to SetScreens, submit them to a brand or send them to a reviewer. App versions using browser storage keep the local export data in that browser's storage. Account access and licence checks are separate operations described in this notice.

Image import reads files you select through the system picker. Export and sharing make the selected files or package available to the destination you choose. This can include the video, report and structured evidence together. Your selected file provider, device backup or synchronisation settings may also copy files; their own settings and privacy terms apply. Local-network access is used to connect the Controller and Players. You can review device permissions in your operating-system settings; restricting access can prevent the related feature from working.

A simulated phone screen, contact, location, call or message is production content. It is not itself access to your real address book, a live call, a device-location reading or a camera recording. If you send us a clearance package or other production material in a support message, we receive the information you provide and use it to handle that request as described in this notice. Only send information reasonably needed for the request that you have authority to share.

5. Support, feedback and diagnostics

When you contact us, we process your contact address, subject, message, replies and conversation status and history. A signed-out support request can be linked to a private conversation through email verification. A guest conversation does not automatically become part of a later account merely because the email address matches.

App and device information in an in-app report is optional. It can include the actual app version and build, operating system and version, build mode and report time shown to you. You may also choose an app event from Messages. Review the event details and remove anything you do not want to send. Events can include information about the operation or content involved. Opening Help does not automatically attach your project, Script, Take, video or full log. Do not include passwords, private licence credentials, payment details or confidential production material.

When you test SetScreens through TestFlight, Apple collects testing and diagnostic information and makes information such as crash reports, usage data and submitted feedback available to the developer under its TestFlight terms. Tester contact details may be included. This is separate from the optional support-report switch inside SetScreens. For App Store releases, diagnostic sharing is governed by the applicable Apple settings and terms.

6. Optional news emails

If you sign up and confirm your address, we process your email, signup source, confirmation and subscription preference to send the notifications you requested. You can withdraw consent using the unsubscribe link in those emails. We retain the unsubscribe preference where needed to respect your choice.

Account verification, password recovery, security, support and purchase-related messages are service communications. Unsubscribing from optional news does not prevent these messages when they are necessary for your account or request.

7. Technical and security information

When your browser or app contacts our services, we receive technical request information, including an IP address. Hosting and error records help operate and protect the service. Security limits use hashed account, address, session or device identifiers with request counts and times to reduce abuse. Administrative and licence-operation records document changes and help investigate mistakes, misuse and disputes. A hashed identifier can still relate to a person; it is not necessarily anonymous.

Automated licence checks compare verified purchase status, assigned capacity, device proof and expiry information. They determine whether the requested licence access is available. If you believe a result is wrong, contact us for review. We do not use these records to build advertising profiles or evaluate your professional performance.

8. Cookies and similar storage

SetScreens uses functional and security cookies for sign-in, form protection, confirmations, brief status messages and access to a verified guest support conversation. Our website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics tags. Blocking functional cookies may stop the related account or support feature from working. Apple, Paddle and external destinations you choose have their own practices.

The following periods describe cookie or access validity. They do not mean that every corresponding database record is erased when the period ends.

  • Account sign-in: setscreens_session normally lasts up to 7 days; signing out or revoking it can end access sooner. A separate operator-console session lasts up to 8 hours.
  • Form protection: setscreens_csrf is a session cookie that protects account and support forms against forged requests.
  • Password recovery: setscreens_reset_flow and setscreens_reset_result last up to 10 minutes and are cleared as the reset flow completes.
  • Email preferences: setscreens_notify_confirm and setscreens_notify_unsubscribe last up to 10 minutes while you confirm an address or unsubscribe.
  • Guest support: setscreens_support_thread allows access to a verified private conversation for up to 7 days.
  • Status and confirmation steps: setscreens_flash_session, setscreens_action_session and setscreens_billing_session are session cookies for brief notices and sensitive-action confirmations. Individual action confirmations expire after 10 minutes.

9. Why we use personal information

Where European or UK data-protection law applies, we rely on the following grounds for the relevant processing:

  • Contract and requested steps before a contract: providing your account, licence access, purchases, device assignments, transfers and requested support where necessary for a contract with you as an individual.
  • Legitimate interests: providing and administering the service for an organisation through its authorised contacts, securing and operating SetScreens, preventing misuse, responding to general questions and feedback, maintaining reliable records and establishing or defending legal claims, subject to your rights and interests.
  • Legal obligations: keeping required financial records and responding to valid legal demands.
  • Consent: sending optional news notifications. You can withdraw it without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

10. Who receives information

SetScreens uses Websupport Magyarország Kft. for website and account hosting and email delivery. Websupport handles the hosted service data, email addresses, message content and technical delivery information needed to provide those services for us. Authorised people operating SetScreens may access information as necessary for their work. We do not sell your personal information.

Apple and Paddle receive purchase references needed to connect a purchase to the correct account and act under their own privacy notices for their store, billing and payment services. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. Exporting, sharing or submitting content to a destination you choose also makes it available to that destination.

A recipient you select for an export may receive names, images, messages and other production information in the report and JSON even where it is absent from the visible video. Choose recipients and sharing permissions with the whole package in mind. SetScreens does not select a clearance reviewer for you or automatically share the package with one. If you choose to send it to our support service, the support and hosting arrangements described in this notice apply to the information received.

Apple and Paddle operate internationally. Their privacy notices describe the locations and arrangements relevant to their own processing. You can contact our privacy address for information about the hosting and email services used for your SetScreens account, their processing locations and any safeguards applicable to transfers for which we are responsible.

11. How long information is kept

We keep account information while it is needed to provide your account and associated services. Support information is needed while we handle a request and, where relevant, to follow up an unresolved issue or legal claim. Optional news information is used until you unsubscribe; a suppression record may remain to respect that choice.

Financial, purchase-ownership, licence-security and audit records may need to remain after an account closes. The relevant period depends on applicable recordkeeping obligations, unresolved payments or refunds, misuse investigations and the time needed to establish or defend legal claims. We limit retention to those purposes; account closure does not make every financial or licence record unnecessary immediately.

Successfully sent transactional-email bodies are cleared from our delivery queue, while delivery metadata remains. A credential or session expiring prevents its use but does not necessarily erase its record at the same moment. Records in provider systems, security logs and backups follow the purpose and obligations applying to those records. Contact us if you need information about the retention criteria for a particular category.

Local production files, completed clearance packages, downloaded copies and copies held by your chosen recipients remain under the controls of the relevant device, browser, file service or recipient. We do not set an automatic clearance-report retention period or remotely remove all those copies. A later scene edit does not update or erase an earlier export. Choose an appropriate retention period for production records, approvals and any personal information, taking account of applicable obligations, and use the relevant storage and sharing controls when a copy is no longer needed.

12. Deleting your account

Use Delete account in Account & licences in the app or in your web account and review the confirmation. Successful deletion disables sign-in, removes or de-identifies ordinary account information and removes account-linked support conversations and the associated optional-news subscription. Financial, licence-audit and purchase-ownership records can remain for the purposes described above.

Deleting a SetScreens account does not cancel an Apple or Paddle subscription. Manage cancellation with the original purchase provider. Deletion also does not erase local or exported videos, clearance PDFs and JSON evidence, other devices' productions, device or browser backups, copies shared with recipients, or another provider's independent records. Manage those copies through the relevant device, storage service or recipient. If you contacted us without an account, identify that guest conversation when asking for its deletion.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. Some records may need to remain for a legal obligation or a properly justified claim. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify that a request comes from you.

Send requests to legal@setscreens.com. We respond within the deadlines required by applicable data-protection law. Our general support policy about response or fix times does not limit these rights or statutory deadlines. You can also complain to your competent data-protection authority, including the authority where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred. These rights do not depend on having a paid plan.

In Hungary, you may also contact the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).

14. Security and children

We use measures appropriate to the service, including protected credentials, encrypted transport for account requests and access controls for account and support information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account, device and production network secure, and never send your password through support.

SetScreens is intended for professional production work and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information without the necessary authority, contact our privacy address so the matter can be reviewed.

15. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the service or its processing changes. The version and date shown on this page identify the current notice. We will communicate material changes as appropriate before they affect you. This notice describes our processing; it does not ask you to waive your privacy rights.
